The artist Jin-Hua SHI has long adopted his body as a tool with which to engage in various creations of ‘documentation’. In A Walk of 100 Kilometers, the artist records his journey back and forth alongside a ten-meter long canvas, using pencil to leave marks upon the canvas as he moves. The marks that he leaves behind, as well the leftover pencil shavings, and even the shoes worn out during the process, serve as signifiers of a remarkable display of both spirit and capacity.
